“The Fall of Man: Musée des Beaux Arts 2.0”
Written by Philip Jun Fang

About the Fall God is witnessing –
The trick of Satan, the apple of wisdom,
Adam and Eve, tempted and lost.
When the serpent is grinning,
The ripples of the body spread over the skin.
The indifferent goats stop chewing grass,
Looking leisurely, noticing what is happening.
And the gazing cat, sitting in the corner, is
Inviting you to discourse and to judge. The jealous
Elephant, however, turns back, looking for its mate.

About suffering people onlookers still care not –
The fall of Rome, Icarus’s drowning,
Let alone Goltzius’s painting –
While they are chatting, taking snapshots or just sitting dully on the bench.
A weary young man stopped and looked closely, realizing
It was too late and too far to go back, and questioned
“Where to choose my place of rest?”
However man fell again, and yet again.
As the sun shone and the world lay spread,
He removed the wedding ring, and walked directly into

The night.
