终於平易可親
連凡夫俗子
都敢张目以對

满佈血絲的眼睛
要等最後一隻歸鳥平安入林
才恬然閉上

finally his fierce gaze becomes so mellow
that even an ordinary man like me
dares to stare

his bloodshot eye
will not close completely
till the last bird
returns safely
to the woods

The sun figures in this poem as a single-eyed hoary man whose “blood-shot” eye will not close until even the smallest of creatures is safely home for the night. The red aura of a sunset plays into this poem, but the gaze never stops. The twist is that the sun waits until all is well before setting.
